Petitioning the Court Today!

That's right, when we signed in at the baby house today it marked our 15th visit which means that they petition the court today! Last night we had the document translated to us and we got to write out little M's new name for the first time. It was quite surreal.

Drumroll please.... his new name will be Nathan Mohammed Brogdon!! We will ease this transition for him but he wants an American name.

We were told that when the petitions are made on Monday (today) that court always occurs by the end of the week, so we could be home in a week from today! Please pray with us that this goes smoothly and that we are seen quickly. We should be prepped for court today - our coordinator here will go over the questions that are possible and try to help us get answers ready and know how to respond to any tough ones. For married couples they don't really anticipate any problems, but we are always on edge about the whole pastor thing. When we first got here we were grilled about being Baptists because apparently they have some here but they in no way resemble our version. I think they told us that they don't allow anything -- no singing, nothing. Very hard nosed. We assured them that we were not that way!

We are not happy about leaving a child here but we are ready to be home!!

  1. wow! i can't believe your bonding is over! probably went much faster to me than you though :) i LOVE his new name! i remember when they asked for veronicas name (we ended up keeping her first name). but it was such a huge moment! i'll be praying for court. we will pray that it goes smoothly and quickly and that you don't feel too much anxiety over it. i know the feeling of wanting to be home. as sad as i was to leave V, i was ready to fly the plane myself to get back to the boys!
