Father's Day

I think I need a whole bunch of bad mom points. It was Clint's first Father's Day as "dad to two" and I didn't get a single photo of all three of them. Why, you ask? Because there was a Star Wars marathon on tv and Nathan was obsessed, of course. We did get to have my dad, Dave and Meaghan over...and we got to try out Clint's new toy.

C and M had a great time trashing  using the whole kitchen area to build this thing, and finally got it done. The instructions say it should take two people 50 minutes to complete. I won't tell you how long it took these two but they were certainly proud when it was finished!

At least I managed to get a shot of Booch and Matt in their matching hats! :)

Played by a Six-Year-Old

I got a nice note from Nate's kindergarten teacher the other day. It was very sweet and said that Nathan is doing so well, blahblahblah, and there have only been a few tears.

Of course I asked N why he was crying at school.

Me - "Why are you crying at school?"

N - "Because I don't want to do things."

Me - "What kind of things?"

N - "Drawing."

Me - "What happens when you cry?"

N - said with a huge smile "I don't have to do it!"

Hmmmm....wonder if she knows she just got played.  :)

The Fair

One of the great things about this area is all the amazing stuff to do! We now have a previously unknown problem...which fun thing to pick for the day?!

This weekend we went to the Fairfax County Festival, and wow was it fun!

Decisions, decisions.

Oh the joys of an "everyone wins" game!

Love these previous two...my little, and my big.

My two big guys got to ride the roller coaster...finally! They've been talking about doing this forever.

Chezburger

The free McDonald's frozen lemonades were a big hit.

We really wanted to take this little guy home. He'd fit in a townhouse, right??

This was a big moment for Matt, always the huge turtle/tortoise fan! He was so cute...just walking around with such a look of purpose on his little face.

And on a hot day the mister fan is always the best!

Really, I get to ride on another one?!

Matt said "shooting is fun...as long as it's not at anything alive." Phew!

Good day!

Growing Butterflies

A few weeks ago we got these little caterpillars in the mail and have been watching them grow. I thought it would be a neat project for Nate, who really hasn't seen things like this before, but turns out we've all had fun with it. (If you want to do this yourself you can get the kit here.)

They literally double in size every day so we thought it would be neat to photograph them lots...

The first one hatched out of its chrysalis today. In a big splash of red, blood-like meconium. By-products of their transformation.

Reminded me of the quote about our re-birth as Believers, and the mighty transformation that God makes happen every day.

"Just when the little caterpillar thought her life was over, she became a beautiful butterfly."
